Re: [sumo-user] Instantaneous Induction Loops Detectors

Dear Ying-Chuan,

Yes. It uses MSCFModel::passingTime to interpolate between the last two time steps.

I've added a note on this to the documentation.

The stay (or rather the time spent with any part of the vehicle on the detector) is only captured if it happens between simulation steps.

This part should be clear from the documentation: "stay": a vehicle which entered the detector in a prior step is still on the detector"

While you could certainly estimate stay time based on vehicle length and speed for any passing event, the historical goal for the "stay" event was to capture jamming so it doesn't track this.

Dear SUMO team,

We are curious about how the “enter” and “leave” times are determined in the Instantaneous Induction Loops Detectors output.

https://sumo.dlr.de/docs/Simulation/Output/Instantaneous_Induction_Loops_Detectors.html

What if the “stay” time on a detector is not even recorded due to the time step size?

Is it an interpolation/extrapolation mechanism using the positions at the two time steps that are closest to the detector?

This would be my guess.

Is there an explanation about this anywhere in the documentation?

Thanks in advance for the answer.

Best regards,

Ying-Chuan
