Re: [sumo-user] Acceleration lanes and weaving sections

Good evening,

Thank you very much for the simulations you sent. The weaving behavior shown is exactly what I want to reproduce.

In the attached simulations, there are two weaving sections.

Drivers on the main road are yielding the right-of-way to vehicles attempting to weave. I would like to prevent this; instead, I want them to stop—if necessary—and wait for a gap.
I have other simulations where similar situations occur, such as in acceleration lanes.

Sds,

Pedro Oliveira

Generally speaking, it may help to exaggerate the length of the acceleration lane to increase realism in terms of merging without stopping.
Feel free to supply a modified test case to show the problem you are facing.

You can define lane-specific speeds via xml inputs and netedit:

Good afternoon,

Some time ago, I sent an email asking about lane-changing models for intersections that feature acceleration lanes or weaving sections.
In general, I find it difficult to model weaving sections and acceleration lanes using SUMO.
The approach I’ve been using involves creating an extra lane and a junction connecting to the highway; however, this forces the vehicle to travel all the way to the end of the acceleration lane.
I would like to know if there is a way for the vehicle to travel along the lane and change lanes earlier if possible, or stop at the end.
While I'm at it, I’d also like to know if it is possible to set different speeds for specific lanes within the same edge.
I found this link (https://sumo.dlr.de/docs/Simulation/VehicleSpeed.html#edgelane_speed_and_speedfactor), but I didn't quite understand how to apply it or if that is the correct approach.

Thank you very much,

Have a great weekend.
