Re: [sumo-user] Bus emission factor in HBEFA4-based emission model

The SUMO implementation of the HBEFA4 model uses the average of all load values in the database. This should approximately correspond to the average load value.
The HBEFA model as it is implemented in SUMO right now, does not permit customized or dynamic load values and this is why changing 'mass' takes no effect.
In constrast, the electric vehicle model automatically accounts for changes in total vehicle mass due to boarding/unboarding of passengers.

Dear all,

I have a question about the emission factor for buses in the HBEFA4-based emission model. When I run a query on the HBEFA database, the emission factor is given as either an average or a 0% or 100% load. Which of these values is used in the HBEFA4-based emission model?

As a follow-up to the first question, I tried changing the 'mass' parameter of the urban bus, but this did not seem to affect the emission values. Could this be because 'mass' is implicitly stored in the emission function in this case (so changing it in the simulation does not affect the emission result)? Is there a correct approach to assign the mass in this scenario? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Warmest regards,

Addina
