At the moment, marouter does not incorporate any model for intersections, so you are correct in your assumption. Using shapefiles as input in this case sounds feasible.

I am studying the use of SUMO in a macro-simulation of traffic at a metropolitan level involving 39 municipalities.

In this sense, the network construction is at a more simplified level because I don't need a perfect construction at the junctions, I only need to establish a connection between edges, since I will not be developing a micro-simulation.

My main goal would be to have a lighter network to work with; I will be importing SHP files.

Is this possible, or would the method of working on the network be the same as when working with the micro-simulation?
