Re: [sumo-user] Lane organization

- zipper junctions: https://sumo.dlr.de/docs/Networks/PlainXML.html#node_types
- dummy nodes: This was refering to junctions with one incoming and one outgoing edge (hence no real intersection). The tutorial was outdated though. Please reload the page.
-  show-connections: the function can be found in the 'edit' menu, hotkey is Alt+5 and there is also a button with two red arrows on the right side of the toolbar.

Also, the latest version is 1.11

Excuse me in the documentation, it is mentioned that you should activate show connection box to see the connections between the edges. But I cannot find the show connection box  in version 10. Can you please guide me where is it in version 10 of SUMO?

Excuse me. Can I ask what are dummy nodes?

Yes, you are right, thank you very much for your explanation. Excuse me can you please send me the link (if there is) about zipper junction and these kind of stuff. Thank you very much in advance. You are very helpful.

Multiple connections *from* the same lane should give no warning.
Multiple connections *to* the same lane should only be used sparingly (i.e. a bike lane ends and the bicycles must move into the driving lane).
A special case is zipper-merge which is modeled by setting the junction type to "zipper".
In most cases where the number of lanes gets reduced (lane drop) the best modelling approach is to have one lane without connections and thereby force the vehicles to change lanes.

Ok, thank you very much. Excuse me, can we have multiple connections from one lane? Because it is giving me warning where I have two

outgoing connections from one lane. Or it is ok and I should ignore these warnings?

Your observation regarding outermost lane index is correct. I meant "rightmost in driving direction" which is equivalent for right-hand networks).
If you wish to change tho origin lane for a connection you must do so in two steps:
1) remove the connection with the wrong origin lane
2) create a connection from the new origin lane to the old target lane

Thank you very much. I have two questions and I will be very thankful if you answer me. You told that in each edge the rightmost one is

lane zero but it seems that the most out one is zero and then lane's number starts raising from there. My question is that can I change the lane connections and if yes how can I do that? I can just change the possible target lanes??

My kind Regards,

You need press 'C' to enter connection mode first (or select 'Connection Mode' in the 'Modes' menu). Then click on the lanes to set connections. See https://sumo.dlr.de/docs/Netedit/editModesNetwork.html#changing_connections. The rightmost lane has index 0 and the numbers increase from there.

Hello everyone,

I am trying to do the simulations in basic  tutorials in SUMO documentation. The quickstart example but when I want to allocate the lanes I have problem. At some point it  is written to go to the connection mode and then click on a specific edge to work on lanes and there is also a table describing the links between the lanes but when I click on an edge I don't know what parameters I should change to set the lanes as they are in the table. Any kind of help is truly appreciated.
