For automated runs I recommend to use 'sumo' instead of 'sumo-gui'.

If you need to start/end the visualization automatically, you can add options --start and --end.

For running a simulation 100 times, I know putting a loop around my script is a must. In spite of doing that, according to my experience, I have to interfere to start the simulation by pressing 'play bottom' and to close the GUI at the end of each simulation. Is there any way to run a simulation automatically from a to z?
