[sumo-user] V2V BSMs for SUMO

Hello sumo-users,

I wanted to share a note regarding SUMO and V2V applications.

MITRE Corporation has developed a library that generates Basic Safety Messages on top of SUMO for V2V simulations.

This is not publicly available in any web repo but if you email me directly at hmartinez@xxxxxxxxx we can find the proper channel to share with the SUMO community.

This is a bootstrapped library that is under constant improvement as we move along in our research projects.

Thanks,

-Hector

Subject: Re: [sumo-user] Self-driving cars in SUMO

Hello,

in a sense, all cars in sumo are self-driving.

There are some calibration parameters which are typically used to model the difference between autonomous vehicles and human-controlled vehicles such as the minimum time-headyway 'tau', the driver imperfection 'sigma' and the adherence to speed limits 'speedFactor'. (see http://sumo.dlr.de/wiki/Definition_of_Vehicles,_Vehicle_Types,_and_Routes#Vehicle_Types)

V2X communication is not part of SUMO but veins can be used to couple SUMO with a network simulator.

The SUMO API which is used for this coupling is also used in other frame works to couple SUMO to other communication simulators.

regards,

Jakob

Hello SUMO,

is it possible to simulate self-driving cars in SUMO? I am interested to try them to a simulation of mine.

Moreover is it possible to have V2V communications implemented? I read about an integration with veins, but I wanted to be sure.

Kind regards,

Thanos
