Plots as above could also be created from xml outputs directly if the output files contain aggregated data.

For aggregation, you could use edgeData-emssions with attribute aggregated="true" instead of emission-output: https://sumo.dlr.de/docs/Simulation/Output/Lane-_or_Edge-based_Emissions_Measures.html

What I usually do is to convert the .xml file to .csv with xml2csv.py python script (https://sumo.dlr.de/docs/Tools/Xml.html#xml2csvpy). 

If you are familiar with Python you can use Pandas to read and plot csv files (in alternative R has the same functions in its own packages).
