Re: [stp-pmc] BPMN Diagramming

Hi Rich,
Just very recently, Intalio have made a contribution (which has not
yet been approved by EMO - it's in process) which consists of a
BPMN editor, based on GMF (bugzilla id 156018). I've taken the
liberty of adding you to the cc: list to keep you up to date with
what's happening there. This contribution was committed to back
at the dawn of the project and has been expected for some time.

Richard says:
We’ve used BPMN for GMF tutorials with some success, and it seems a sensible addition to the Modeling project, as a general-purpose business process modeling component. Specifically, I see it fitting nicely into the proposed MDT (Model Development Tools) project http://www.eclipse.org/proposals/mdt/.

I understand the focus of STP’s interest in BPMN to be more on the transformation to BPEL, which I agree would not make sense to maintain within Modeling. So, the question is, are you considering basing BPMN diagramming within STP on GMF? If so, would you consider a contribution in this area? Alternatively, would you consider utilizing BPMN diagramming from MDT in STP, and focus on producing BPEL from it for your needs?

Let's get together and see how we can cooperate on this -
Alex Boisvert is our BPMN guy (he's just been added to this
list :) and I'm sure he's will have lots of good suggestions.

Can you link us to the appropriate GMF tutorials?

  best regards
  Oisin
