[stp-dev] Integration STP Policy Editor extension: meeting minutes

Hi all,

I publish a short minutes regarding new proposal for Policy Editor from Udayanga.

Attendes:
Udayanga Shaminda
Andrei Shakirin

Topic: proposals for PolicyEditor extensions

Minutes
1. Proposals will be separated in two parts:
  a) extracting WS-Policy from the XML messages (kind of "policy reverse engineering"): Policy Derivation Tool
  b) support new WS-Policy 1.5 constructions (wsp:Choice, wsp:Required)

2. Part A will be contributed firstly and will have higher priority;
3. Andrei have proposed to integrate derivation functionality as additional import/export Eclipse wizards. In import wizard user can select source of messages (file system, database, monitoring tool) and import policy file(s) into selected Eclipse project. After that policies can be opened and edited using STP Policy Editor.
This approach minimizes dependencies between STP Policy Editor and Policy Derivation Tool and will correspond to Eclipse resources management philosophy.
4. Udayanga will analyse the choice of monitoring tool (own, TCPMon, Eclipse alternatives)
5. Imported policies using "reverse engineering" approach will be validated by validation framework. In case of validation failure user will receive a warning.
6. Next steps:
    a) second detail telco with Renat, Andrei and Udayanga (approximately tomorrow)
    b) publish proposal into Eclipse wiki
    c) contribution via Eclipse bugzilla

Regards,
Andrei.
