Hi Johnson,
The update site (features manifests) still have some
problems.
After install from the stp europa update site I get

The problem is that at install time the update manager does not notify that GMF is needed or that javax.wsdl is needed. Maybe it is due to missing plugin dependencies on feature level?
Have you tried to install from the stp europa update
site on a clean eclipse 3.3 M7
installation?
Best

Bogdan
Hi Eric,
We just created a new milestone release 0.5.0 for
stp. that should fixed most of the update/install problems related with
Europa release.
The Europa Discovery Site will be updated later
today. So you should be able to install STP from there after the changes take
effect.
Since i did several update/install testing
today for stp, I meet weird problem once. At that time, Some stp
plugins have been disabled, they were not even show in the plugin list. it
looks like my env was screwed up. After I
cleanup my Eclipse/configuration dir (only keep the .setting and config.ini),
everything works fine again.
Best Regards
Johnson

Hi Jonathan, thanks for the details. By the way, I'm looking for a safe way to install STP,
in order to have it up and running. At
RC1 level, still did not achieve this.
Thanks in advance. Eric.

Hi Eric, I think the bug 189376 is not the
same as the one I submitted. But fortunately, the solutions are the same.
:) For bug 189376, the name of bundle "javax.wsdl" with the version
1.5 in WTP has been changed to "javax.wsdl15". So, the required bundle
"javax.wsdl" for the plugin "org.eclipse.stp.core" will be loaded from Orbit
rather than WTP when building STP.
So, for STP, we can change the dependency to the
latest WTP package (wtp-sdk-S-2.0RC1-200705250432.zip) to solve this
problem. Thank
you very much. -----Original

Jonathan, see
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=189376
At RC1 level, using the project's update site, I
can install the STP features using the Update Manager. However, after
the mandatory re-boot after install, the STP feature
sounds disabled. This is confirmed by trying to install the feature
using the project's update site: the STP features are still considered as
installable.
Eric.

| [stp-dev] org.eclipse.stp.core
has compiling errors when building for
3.3 M7 |
|
Hi, I find some
compiling errors when building org.eclipse.stp.core with the latest source
code. The error message
is something like: the package javax.wsdl cannot be resolved.
After investigation, I find that the bundle (
javax.wsdl ) is included in both orbit and wtp which are stp's dependencies.
Because of the format of embedded jars, the one in wtp cannot be used as build
classpath. But, as default, the PDE builder uses the one with higher version
to build stp. Unfortunately the one in wtp has the higher version compared
with the one in orbit. So, the PDE cannot load/resolve the package
"javax.wsdl" from this bundle.
We can simply modify the manifest file of the
plugin "org.eclipse.stp.core" and define the right version of "javax.wsdl"
used to build this plugin. But, maybe, it is not a good solution.
I have submited a bug to bug system. Please
refer to: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=189599

Jonathan Huang
