STEM Community Call May 19, 2011
On the call: Jamie, Matthias, Stefan, Matt, Christ, Werner, Judy
Topics of the Week
Agreements/Committers (Added topic)
· Jamie: If 200+ lines of code by a non-committer, Eclipse lawyers review CQ to
· Matthias: Wants to include in new contract for 3rd party programming
· Jamie: Ok if done by Bfr, Bfr owns and submits to Eclipse; okay for Markus if authored 100% and used no library incompatible with the Eclipse Public License
Update on SVN Changes
· Matt: Still waiting for more comments, will update document and put forth for discussion
HTML Logger
· Matthias: On newsgroup, great work; noted some discrepancies, e.g., SI infector and Dublin core—parameters are correct, descriptions differ; have to type name in manually, creates possibility of errors
· Discussion
o Jamie: Problem w/ size. Putting in all nodes, edges into log file would take too long, compromise usability
o Matthias: Could _javascript_ circumvent so have all data will be attached to program even 10 years out, can drill down?
o Matthias: Would be helpful to have documentation of one’s own model with all values, etc. in one place
· Resolution: Make a logging option
· Jamie: Will implement as a feature w/ a warning re file size, send to Matthias for feedback
· Matthias: Will test
· Added to do: Jamie will redo Cuba (old)
· Added discussion
o Jamie: What about equations? How generate automatically?
o Matthias: Transparency important, could create a graphical model generator, maybe can fund
o Jamie: Will help Matthias w/ proposal
Bfr Talk on STEM
· Matthias: Will do demo @ end of June
Items from Participants
· Chris: Working on population model that allows people to age; will have sometime next week
· Werner: Discussion delayed; will reschedule
· Matthias: Re mosquito model—could look @ canonical graph but lost population; no canonical model visualization tool; Jamie—can see decorator graph if using a disease model; Stefan—can see in middle of a run.
o Matthias: Ideally would have a feature whereby the documentation is automatically generated by the model itself
