I downloaded and installed the demo and then ran it. Very impressive. It is
this kind of potential that attracted me to Stellation in the first place
and it is wonderful to see the first results.
Thanks! The same is true for me, actually -- the VSF editor is _exactly_ the
kind of thing I joined Stellation to do, and building it was the biggest
satisfaction I've had in quite a while. I'm really jazzed about taking it
further,
and fully integrating it with both Stellation SCM and the Eclipse editor /
JDT frameworks,
per the 'Future Plans' part of the webpage description.
Three things (at least) have to happen first, however --
* The Client Core needs to iter through at least a couple of cycles, so that it
supports all needed Stellation functionality. Some review/rework will
be needed
to make it reasonably extensible (in both Stellation and Eclipse
terms); for
the first pass, the main goal is to get everything working (and
JUnit-testable);
a followup pass will focus on adding Eclipse extension point support
and refactoring/
enhancing as needed.
* The Stellation CM client should exploit the Eclipse
synchronization/merge support.
(This is very hard to do with the current client, based on
stellation.workspace code;
that's one motivation behind the Client Core work; native Windows
support is another ...)
* We need to get a solid developer release nailed.

I would be tempted to hold off posting anything new until we have shaken
down the new install process and build processes. Anyone who needs immediate
access to the source code can get it through CVS.
That's fine by me, if that's the consensus.
n that case, we may want to simply disable the Downloads page entry for the
source drop, with a message like this: "The bundled source drop is
temporarily unavailable, until our new build and install processes are
worked out. We encourage all interested parties to access the source code
directly from the CVS repository, and hope to restore the source drop link
soon."
