[stellation-res] Fixed bug 23217: threads now terminate correctly again.

The fix for bug 23217 is checked in. This was a nasty regress: somewhere
along the line, an old version of Engine.java got checked in over the
version in which this was fixed. I suspect it occurred in the confusion
as we migrated our internal development from the corrupted internal
repository to CVS.

Can't wait to get back to using svc, where finding thing would have
been so much easier...
