That could go either way... They did very poorly by the open-source
release, and the latest release is *not* open-source. The source
they released was adopted by a non-Borland group of developers,
and re-branded as "Firebird" because Borland's handling of the
open-source was so bad that developers weren't willing to work with
Borland on it. The new version of Firebird (which we could potentially
use) and the new release of Interbase are two different things. 

Borland also released an SCM system called "Marion"
using their DB as a back-end, and it landed with a spectacular thud as 
everyone ignored it.
