Re: [sparkplug-wg] Question about Primary Host Application

Bridging shouldn't be used with Sparkplug. Sparkplug, including PH STATE messages, are dependent on MQTT Will messages. Most MQTT Server implementations that support bridging don't handle will messages properly.

Hi,

Looking for some general guidance on what would happen if a Primary Host Application was subscribed to an MQTT Broker that was bridged from an upstream broker.

If the Primary Host Application went offline, either by issuing an offline publish to the state topic, or unexpectedly, would the publisher who is subscribed to the upstream broker receive the message that the Primary Host Application is offline and stop publishing ?

Any advice or resource links appreciated.

Thank you,

Kevin.
