All,
Due to the daylight savings time change there is a conflict for our
meeting with the Eclipse IoT meeting. As a result, for THIS WEEK ONLY we
will start ONE HOUR EARLIER at 8am PDT. The updated meeting time is below.
The plan is to discuss progress and the issues that Ian Craggs
raised on the Slack Specification channel this week. In addition, I
would like to discuss whether or not the following should be made
normative in the specification.
1. Data Types
* These have existed as a comment in the .proto file to date and I
think should be made standard/normative
2. Quality
* This is really a critical part of the specification as terms like
'stale' and 'good' data quality values are used in the spec. We should
make normative statements around how qualities are defined
3. Primary Host
None of these are today and I think at least the first two should
be. We (at Cirrus Link) have always allowed Primary Host Applications to
be optional in any Sparkplug infrastructure. We've always recommended
the use of Primary Host Applications but it has never been mandatory.
Instead it has always been an option to just have one or more 'Secondary
Host Applications'. I would like to see if we can agree on how we handle
these in the spec this week so these can be incorporated soon.
