Re: [soa-iwg] Roadmap v0.5

Scott,

This is my last comment to the whole discussion:

I see consensus in the group that Distributed OSGi/RFC119 is relevant for SOA. The group would be happy to include that into the SOA platform, if somebody steps up to integrate it to the other parts of the SOA platform.

In my view integration with the existing SOA/swordfish runtime/tooling is a bogus requirement for inclusion in a SOA package. It is saying that SOA-relevant runtime things (e.g. RFC119) have to be integrated with the existing runtime/tooling to be relevant to SOA runtimes...which is circular. It would be akin to saying that Equinox's implementation of the OSGi core spec has to be integrated with the PDE before it could be considered for the runtime.

Further, RFC119/Distributed OSGi already has tooling (in essence, the PDE, Declarative services, etc)...i.e. the tooling around supporting OSGi in general. So *that's* a much more reasonable/simpler (few dependencies) integration point for RFC119/OSGi...and that's where we've chosen to focus on integration.
