[sirius-dev] Sirius 1.0.0, 1.0.x and 2.0.0

Hi all.

The 1.0.0rc3 [1] version we published last week as part of Luna RC3 will be the final version. We made no change for Luna RC4, so this will be the final bits which will be released as "Sirius 1.0.0" on June 25 for Luna. The Eclipse rules prevent us from making this publicly available as an official 1.0.0 before the Luna release, but 1.0.0 will be a plain copy of the rc3 bits (no rebuild planned).

I have just performed the steps to set the next versions: 1.0.x (maintenance) and 2.0.0 (new developments) [2]: - There is a new branch named v1.0.x in the Git repo, where the version has been bumped to 1.0.1. This branch will contain only bug fixes for maintenance releases. Note that as long as we do not break API, we do not have to follow a heavy-weight Eclipse-imposed process to release 1.0.x versions. We are not bound either to the Luna SR1 and SR2 dates. We can (and will probably) release maintenance versions as part of Luna SR1 and SR2, but we can also release outside of the Luna calendar. - There is a new Hudson job at https://hudson.eclipse.org/sirius/job/sirius-1.0.x/ which builds from that maintenance branch. It publishes its results as nightly/1.0.1-NYYYYMMDD-HHMM, nightly/1.0.1 and nightly/1.0.x (see [3] for details). - The version number has been bumped to 2.0.0 on master [4], and the sirius-master Hudson job now publishes its nightlies as: nightly/2.0.0-NYYYYMMDD-HHMM, nightly/2.0.0, nightly/2.0.x, and nightly/latest (again, see [3] for details).

If you used URLs like http://download.eclipse.org/sirius/updates/nightly/latest/luna (pointing to "latest") as a convenience to always get the latest build, be aware that starting from now this points to 2.0.0. If what you really wanted was actually "the latest build towards 1.0.0", you must use http://download.eclipse.org/sirius/updates/milestones/1.0.0rc3/luna instead.

The master branch is now re-opened for commits towards the future 2.0.0 release.

Regards,
Pierre-Charles David
