Hello everyone,

 

The Planning Council wants to inform you that SimRel participants will be allowed to bump the BREE of their contributions to Java 25 for the 2026-09 release.

 

For the last two releases, we have asked you to stay at Java 21 (or lower) because there is no Temurin Java 25 build available for Windows on ARM/AArch64 and we have a significant number of consumers of EPP packages for that architecture. While this is still the case, we do not want to hold back the adoption of Java 25 any longer. We just expect the Eclipse Platform project to isolate any usage of Java 25 to separate fragments, ensuring the Platform remains compatible with Java 21 via existing fragments for now.

We still hope a Temurin build becomes available by the 2026-09 release.
