Hello everyone,

 

The planning council asks all SimRel participants to continue using Java 21 or below for the 2026-03 release and not to bump the BREE of any contribution to Java 25.

 

This aligns with the SimRel requirements and is especially important because there is no Java 25 Temurin build for Windows on ARM/AArch64 available yet. Bumping any contribution’s BREE to Java 25 would therefore force us to drop support for that platform, including its EPP packages. For more information, see …

 

We will reevaluate the situation in February/March for the 2026-06 release, as we do not want to block the adoption of Java 25 longer than necessary. In case a Temurin build becomes available sooner, we may reevaluate earlier as well.
