[sensinact-dev] Completing the prototyping stage for sensiNact 2.0

Hi all,
As I’m sure that you’re all aware there has been a prototype branch running for some time which we have been using to build the next version of sensiNact. This takes most of the principles, the data model and overall goals from sensiNact 1.x and condenses it down into a smaller, more modern and more efficient form. The prototype represents many months of effort from several developers across at least three countries. It uses more modern libraries, makes more use of existing standards, and has been measured to be approximately 100 times faster than the legacy sensiNact while having comparable or lower memory footprint.
We believe that the time for prototyping is drawing to an end, and that the prototype has reached sufficient maturity to replace the legacy sensiNact codebase in the main branch. This email is being sent to the developer list so that the community has a chance to provide any comments or feedback that they believe needs to be addressed before the prototype could be merged.
