[sdv-wg] ThreadX, you can drive my ECU!

Dear SDV community.

In September 2025, the Eclipse ThreadX project switched to a quarterly release cadence. Since then, we have delivered five releases packed full of new features and improvements. With an average of over 15 new contributors per release, there is a lot happening.

One of our main goals for ThreadX v6.5.2, our latest release published on October 2, was to fulfil some requests made by members of our automotive community.

The two key highlights are:
  1. A new ThreadX monoprocessor port targeting the popular Arm Cortex-R52 core, including support for memory isolation (ThreadX Modules)
  2. ZoneX, a brand-new deterministic partitioning hypervisor
Both have been validated using the Armv8-R AEM FVP and brought up on NXP S32Z280 silicon.

Curious about ZoneX? You should then catch my talk during OCX Webinar week. It is scheduled for Tuesday, November 3, 2026 at 10:00 EST / 16:00 CET. Register here!

Feel free to contact me if you want to learn more.
