[sdv-wg] Eclipse SSAM - Lightweight Container Execution for Automotive ECUs

Dear SDV Community,

Sharing for awareness: Eclipse SSAM is currently under review as a new Eclipse top-level project.

Proposal:   https://projects.eclipse.org/proposals/eclipse-ssam

SCORE Discussion: https://github.com/orgs/eclipse-score/discussions/2934

Source:     https://github.com/mobis-oss/ssam

SSAM is a lightweight container execution framework purpose-built for resource-constrained automotive ECUs — not a general-purpose OCI runtime.

It focuses on the container runtime layer and is intended to complement, not overlap with, existing orchestration efforts in the SDV ecosystem.

Highlights:

  - Establishes a container environment and initiates application execution within 100 ms

  - Continuous integrity verification via dm-verity + EROFS

  - Resource isolation via ext4 project quota

Best regards,

Jeff Kim
