[sdv-wg] SDV Hackathon Chapter Four - 2026 - Call for Coaches!!

Dear Eclipse SDV Community,

tl;dr:
Join the next Eclipse SDV Hackathon as a Hack Coach – applications close June 5.

After OCX2026 and the SDV HackFest in Esslingen, it is time to turn our attention to a major upcoming event: The SDV Hackathon Chapter Four!

We have already begun the preparation phase for this year’s Hackathon, which will be held at the SeeCampus in Friedrichshafen, Germany. As part of this process, we are reaching out to the entire community to call for volunteers to serve as Hackathon Coaches.
For more information about the event, visit the official event page: https://www.eclipse-foundation.events/event/sdv-hackathon-chapter-four/

This year there will be 2 challenges and we will concentrate on:
BUILD openly. CONNECT communities. DELIVER together.

As we started the SDV HackFest in Esslingen to integrate Eclipse S-CORE with Eclipse OpenBSW and Eclipse OpenSOVD, we would like to concentrate on, but not be limited to, challenges surrounding these 3 projects.
Also we plan to have real cars on site. As we started at the SDV HackFest with cars from BMW, Mercedes and Porsche, we need YOU to bring your vehicles. (Not limited to passenger cars) Please contact me personally if you can bring a vehicle.

To be a Hack Coach, the following prerequisites are required:
- Advanced knowledge in at least one Eclipse SDV project (being an expert or committer is ideal).
- General knowledge of other Eclipse SDV projects.
- A commitment to the principles of Open Source.
- Good mastery of the English language, as the event will be held in English.

Why become a Hack Coach?  (besides special SWAG!)
Because it puts you at the center of hands-on SDV innovation. You will mentor motivated teams, showcase your expertise, help Eclipse SDV projects become more usable and visible, connect with peers across the automotive open source ecosystem, and contribute directly to prototypes that demonstrate what software-defined vehicles can become.

If you would like to volunteer as a coach this year, please fill in your details in the registration sheet here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/19EKGi8afWVFQaOVeg8QiWMBy-8bry0ViHYLM2VfO4wU/edit?usp=drive_link

The deadline for coach registration is June 5, 2026. Please ensure your name is on the list by that date so we can begin our regular meetings to define this year’s challenges.

I will be serving as your HackMC for this Hackathon, and I look forward to working with all of you. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you for your continued support, and I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Best regards,

Christian Heissenberger

Best regards
