We're thrilled to introduce this new quarterly newsletter dedicated to all things related to software-defined vehicles (SDVs) and the growing Eclipse SDV community. Community News

  • Codethink, Ltd. joins Eclipse Foundation and Eclipse SDV Working Group as Strategic Member to advance trustable software collaboration. Read more
  • The Eclipse Foundation has started an initiative to define and deploy a Development Process for Safety Critical Applications. Read more.
  • The OpenHW Group has joined the Eclipse ecosystem as the OpenHW Foundation, bringing its expertise in implementing RISC-V architectures to complement our software initiatives. Read more about the Eclipse Foundation’s vision for embedded and safety-critical innovation.
  • At Open Community for Automotive (OCA) in Mainz last year, we had the chance to interview a few Eclipse SDV project leads and contributors. Watch the interviews on YouTube.

  • Happening from January 7-10, CES 2025 showcased the latest advancements in SDVs. Forbes Magazine published a comprehensive recap of what's new in the SDV space.
  • Another interesting review of SDV innovations at CES, discussing the shift to zonal architecture and the blurring lines between IVI and ADAS, was published by EDN.
  • The McKinsey Center for Future Mobility explores how GenAI is shaping the future of mobility and vehicle technology in a detailed series of publications worth reading.
  • A new overview article from Telematics Wire discusses how SDVs are revolutionising mobility by enabling real-time monitoring, over-the-air updates, and enhanced features.

    When and how did you start your career in automotive?

    I joined Mercedes-Benz Tech Innovation in 2018, as part of an apprenticeship. Already back then, I got my first taste of contributing to open source, which I'm glad to be doing again.

    Bringing reliable software onto the road.

     

    What has been your #1 benefit of joining the Eclipse SDV WG?

    Connecting with like-minded folks, who bring in new ideas and tons of experience.
