The most recent version of PTP (4.0.3) should work the best.
Are you using a 'remote' system (eclipse on e.g. your workstation/laptop, talking to a remote cluster for example on another machine?)
The easiest setup uses PTP's "Remote Tools" which launches automatically on the remote machine running as the user, and does not require root access.

Hi,
Which version of PTP should I use for my (Open MPI) 1.3.4 ?
Does the install PTP requires root right on the MPI system ?
