I can't see any of the graphics you attached so I'm not quite sure what you're talking about.

Beth,
Finally figured out what is missing -
the first pane of the functional new project wizard allows me to indicate the remote provider (eg, remote tools ssh connection to abe.ncsa.uiuc.edu); and **at that point** I can select the location of the remote RDT components…
and then - the third pane of the wizard, alloows for service configuration:
"Advanced Settings" brings up the edit service configuration page:
and -- clicking code indexing - has the path that is all-so-important:
RC3a only has a smattering of these panes… so we can't configure it correctly.
