Dear PolarSys community member,
In December 2018, the PolarSys Steering Committee (composed of representatives of Thales, CEA, Airbus Helicopter, Zeligsoft, and Obeo) unanimously voted to terminate the PolarSys working group effective December 31, 2018.
PolarSys served the community well over the last 6 years as it helped develop the ecosystem around the Capella and Papyrus solutions. With the creation of the Capella IC and the Papyrus IC respectively, the Steering Committee decided that it was the right time for those Industry Consortia to operate separately.
The sustainability of all the PolarSys projects is ensured by the fact that PolarSys is a Top Level project of the Eclipse Foundation.
PolarSys projects will continue to be open source, under the Eclipse Public License, and to benefit from the collaborative infrastructure supported by the Eclipse Foundation. The projects will continue to use package names starting with “org.polarsys”. However, the PolarSys infrastructure is being merged in the eclipse.org infrastructure. You can track the migration process on this bug.
We will take the opportunity of these changes to archive the projects that have not been responding to our requests about the changes in the infrastructure.
Finally, we are working with the Capella IC and Papyrus IC Steering Committees to determine which form those two groups will continue to operate.
Do not hesitate to reach out to Wayne Beaton (in CC) or me if you have any questions about this transition.
Best regards,
