Dear all,
Please find below the CfP for the OSS4MDE workshop at Models
2016. I think this is a great opportunity to present your
project, ideas, or return of experience with PolarSys Solutions
and more generally with open source modeling projects.
Please note that you can submit short papers that describe
cool ideas, work in progress, experience reports, or position
papers.
Don't wait too long as sumbissions close on July 17th.
Cheers,

Third Workshop on Open Source Software for Model Driven
Engineering (OSS4MDE'16)
St. Malo, France
October 2, 3, or 4, 2016
Co-located with MODELS'16
http://mase.cs.queensu.ca/oss4mde
------------------
OBJECTIVES
Just like the previous versions of the workshop, OSS4MDE'16
workshop
will bring together researchers, educators and industry
representatives interested in modeling and MDE with open source
tools. However, the objectives will be less formal and more
interactive, and place more emphasis on promoting open source by
inspiring and encouraging potential users and contributors, and
supporting existing users and contributors.
Concretely, OSS4MDE'16 will allow participants to share
information about
- available open source MDE software and supporting resources
and
artifacts,
- issues (technical, social, etc.) inhibiting the use of open
source
software and ways to overcome or mitigate them,
- ongoing and planned development activities involving open
source MDE
software, and
- ongoing and planned promotion and outreach activities such as
workshops, tutorials, and competitions.
A distinct goal of the workshop is the identification of
concrete,
joint activities to be carried out after the workshop.
TOPICS OF INTEREST
OSS4MDE'16 welcomes submissions on all aspects related to the
use,
development, or promotion of open source MDE tools in academia
(for,
e.g., teaching or research), and industry (for, e.g., training,
development, or research) including, but not limited to:
- Inspiring descriptions of non-trivial ongoing or planned
efforts to
(1) use, improve, or extend existing open source MDE tools, or
to
(2) develop new open source MDE tools,
- Novel, innovative ideas for, e.g.,
(1) improving the quality, usability, visibility, adoption, or
impact
of open source MDE tools,
(2) improving the experience and productivity of users and
developers
of open source MDE tools,
(3) building and sustaining a community of users and
developers,
- Novel proposals on how to customize UML or open source MDE
tools
based on UML to increase the effectiveness of teaching UML and
MDE
to audiences with no or little background in modeling such as
undergraduate students.
INTENDED AUDIENCE
The intended audience consists of all people interested in
advancing MDE in industry or academia through the use or
development
of open source tools and their supporting ecosystems.
SUBMISSIONS, GUIDELINES, AND PROCEEDINGS
Submissions should fall into one of the following four
categories:
- 'Cool idea' and vision papers:
describe original, inspiring, possibly untested ideas or
suggestions.
- Work-in-progress papers:
describe ongoing work using, extending, or building open
source modeling
tools including planned work and work in early stages of
development.
- Experience reports:
provide insight through the description of successful or
unsuccessful
activities related to the workshop topics. This includes
descriptions
of course assignments and course projects, as well as research
projects involving significant use of open source MDE
software.
- Position and opinion papers:
describe a clearly identifiable position or opinion on a
relevant topic
in a well-argued, insightful way; papers discussing obstacles
to the
success of open source MDE tools and how they could be
mitigated or
removed are particularly encouraged.
Submissions must be written in English, adhere to Springer's
LNCS
formatting guidelines
(http://www.springer.com/computer/lncs?SGWID=0-164-6-793341-0)
and be between 2~and 6~pages in length including references.
The goal is to publish workshop proceedings with CEUR (http://ceur.org)
and find ways to include all accepted submissions into the
proceedings,
while respecting CEUR's requirements on page limits etc (e.g.,
accepted
submissions with less than 5 pages could be integrated into a
workshop
summary).
Submissions will be handled using EasyChair and reviewed by at
least
three PC members. Standard conflict rules
(http://www.sigsoft.org/about/policies/pc-policy.htm)
will be applied.
Acceptance decisions will be made based on criteria such as
correctness, clarity, and originality, but also on the potential
of
the work to stimulate discussion, inspire participants, and
contribute
to the success of the workshop.
IMPORTANT DATES
- Submission deadline: July 17, 2016.
- Author notification: August 14, 2016.
- Workshop: October 2, 3, or 4, 2016.
