Re: [polarsys-iwg] [Polarsys.org-members] Get involved in the PolarSys Rover project - WebEx session about the PolarSys Rover project proposal

Of course, I am very interested in this project!

Unfortunately, I am unavailable at that time as there is a PolarSys steering committee at the same time (16:00-17:30 CET) that I need to attend.

I will be an initial committer and would like to contribute a draft SysML model as well as the beginning of a Papyrus-RT model. Both of these are already available in the Papyrus-RT git repository.

One discussion that needs to happen with regards to the project is whether we treat this as a single project (i.e., everyone works on the same demonstrator) or whether we want to be able to distinguish between individual Rover approaches. I would prefer a mixed approach where we can all contribute to a common core Rover sub-project that would provide a kind of baseline for all others as well as a standardized demonstration package. This core sub-project would also define the base Rover BOM. Other specialized sub-projects could then be created to address a particular PolarSys solution or a particular Rover use case.

Basically, I think we need a bit of governance on how we will structure the project repository to facilitate meeting our goals and, hopefully, allow alignment with PolarSys solutions.

Finally, I would like to thank Gaël for his continued efforts around this project. Without him, the PolarSys Rover would not be where it is today!

Dear all,

I am really happy that our initiative for the creation of educational material for the Polarsys solutions becomes concrete with the creation of the Polarsys Rover project (see the proposal here).

It is the right moment to raise your hand if you want to be listed as interested party in the project or, even better, if you plan to contribute very soon and should be added to the list of initial committers.

You can join me in the webex meeting (see invitation in attachment) when we will:
* Present the PolarSys Rover proposal
* Give a status about current prototype and when to expect a good distributable PolarSys rover kit
* Present the talk that has just been accepted at EclipseCon France
* Ask who wants to be listed as interested party
* Ask who wants to be an initial committer, and with what initial contribution
* Discuss other ideas and timeline

Let's talk together this Friday, or later on the project mailing list.

Cheers,
