I'm thinking that the need for the Platform Vision group to meet on
a bi-weekly basis has passed.
I believe that everything that we've been talking about lately is
appropriate for a more general audience, e.g. the Architecture
Council.
Everybody that is actively participating in this group is either on
the AC or should be.
Is there any objection to suspending our biweekly call in favour of
adding content to the monthly AC call?

The Eclipse Foundation has engaged with UX experts to review the
initial user experience with Eclipse. This includes the website,
download, and installation process. Ideally, we'd like to look at
the Welcome page as well, but I'm pretty sure that we don't have
the resources right now to actually implement any changes.
Pascal is working on code changes and tests to various parts of
Eclipse (p2, launcher, tycho) including changing the Mac layout
and packaging as a .dmg file. It would be great if Pascal can
elaborate on the call.
We've the UX experts on the Oomph Installer. Eike and--with help
from Yatta--put some serious UX work into the installer. Eike
presented it to the UX folks last week. I am concerned that some
of the the project descriptions (e.g. targets) in the Oomph
repository have gotten stale. Keeping these up to date is a
challenge that we (collectively) need to address.
The "profiles" work that we've been investigating is an extension
to the Oomph notion of packages and configurations. A profile is a
higher level concept that combines the package definition with the
workspace configuration. The idea is to make it possible for users
to snapshot and share their profiles. This also includes the
ability to capture and share preferences. I'm not happy with the
term "profile" as it suggests personal information (e.g. Facebook
profile), but we haven't come up with an alternative. We've
decided to defer profiles, as there just isn't enough time for
Mars.
Buildship (Gradle) CQs have been created and we have code. The
Planning Council has rejected their inclusion in Mars. We've
engaged to Tools PMC to attempt an appeal. Any ideas you might
have are welcome.
I'd like to talk a bit about the composition of the "Eclipse
Project" Marketplace.
