Re: [platform-update-dev] <no subject>

Hi,

For future VE problems, please use the eclipse.tools.ve newsgroup. This mailing list is for the update manager developers. Thanks.

But for this problem, I don't why you have a problem of .eclipseextension marker file. We don't use that by default.

First you need to make sure you have the correct versions of GEF (3.0.1), EMF (2.0.1), and VE (1.0.1.1). Normally you have a base eclipse folder where you had unzipped eclipse SDK zip when you installed eclipse. You simply unzip GEF, EMF, and VE into the directory that this eclipse directory is in. But it sounds like you have a different installation then normal. My recommendations is to use the update manager (Help->Software Updates->Find and Install->Search for new features-> and select GEF, EMF, and VE from there). That way it will be installed correctly no matter how you have configured your installation.

Hi,

I have been working with eclipse for 2 Weeks (eclispe 3.0.1).
I am trying to add the Visual Editor Plugin (including GEF and EMF) to the
eclipse platform. I downloaded GEF, EMF and Visual Editor form "eclips.org/ve" , but could not
add these components to the platform. A ".eclipseextension marker file" is expected in folder "eclipse".
An in folder "eclipse" there are only two folders, "plugins" and "features"

I am grateful for every help!!

Sincerely yours
Hammoud
