There are two things called feature
images. 

This one

 a
32x32 image which i can find in the about box. 

And also this one

a 120x120 which used to be shown in
the update manager.  

It is the latter I am looking for a
gui access point.  If there no longer is one I'll remove ours from
the product as it'll be wasted effort/space.

No. The workbench About dialog displays feature images.

Peter, 

The attribute itself has not been deprecated, but the image is not used
in 
the current update mgr UI. 
I think the Properties page for the feature could display the image, but
it is not done.

Howdy, 
       Are feature images in 3.0 deprecated? I can't find
where one would 
get displayed. It used to be in the update manager perspective which no
longer exists. 

This is the feature attribute image 
       <feature id="blah.blah" 
               image="blah.gif"
       />
