i had a similar problem.  to fix. i deleted my eclipse folder, and then untarred the archive again and started fresh.  seemed to fix it.

When I try to open a project in Eclipse, I get the following error:

        The project description file (.project) for myproject is missing.

I know I have this project, just that I had moved it to a different location and I can't remember the original location. How can I figure out where Eclipse is looking for it?
