Re: [Fwd: [Fwd: [photran] installation problem]]
|
Just to clarify things a bit.
1. Fortran Development Tools and Photran are synonymous. The only thing you should see in the Helios repository is "Fortran Development Tools (Photran)". I did it this way because most people looking for Fortran support probably don't know what Photran is. There is no "Photran End-User Runtime" on the Helios site. This must be an error in the manual.
2. Photran is an extension of the C/C++ Development Tools (CDT). If you install Photran, you'll also get CDT.
3. Once installed, you'll only see a single Photran feature (org.eclipse.photran.feature.group).
3. There is no "Fortran UI" as such. The things you'll see in the UI once you install Photran are:
a. "Fortran Development" on the Overview page the first time Eclipse is started after installing Photran
b. A "Welcome to Photran 6.0" page
c. A "Fortran" perspective (Window > Open Perpective > Other...)
d. A new Fortran project wizard (File > New > Fortran Project) when in the Fortran perspective
e. A "Fortran Local Application" launch configuration type.
f. Fortran project types in the new project wizard
g. "Fortran Build" and "Fortran General" properties in the project properties page of a Fortran project
h. Probably a few other things I've missed.
On FC11, I just downloaded Helios Eclipse IDE for C/C++ Developers (Linux 32 Bit). "I went to Help > Installation New Software..." and selected "Fortran Development Tools (Photran)" from the "Helios" site. When the installation was completed, I chose "Restart Now". Fortran appeared to be installed at this point. It took about 5 minutes. I'm not saying there isn't a problem with Ubuntu, but FC seems to work fine.
