Hi,
We have now finally released a first version of the ArchiMate extension for Papyrus as part of our contribution to Papyrus IC.
ArchiMate is a modeling notation from The Open Group used for strategic modeling at enterprise level, i.e. a modeling notation that supports motivation and strategic intent as well as identification of affected parts within the organization for the current architectural initiative.
With the extension you get the power of enterprise modeling within Papyrus. The models created in ArchiMate are seamlessly integratable with other, more detailed or technical models, such as UML-models.
The extension contains UML profile, icons, diagram extensions (symbols, stylesheets, palettes), templates, example model, online help, etc.
There have been a hard work trying to understand the sometimes "fuzzy" semantics of ArchiMate and how to map it properly to UML, respecting the core semantics of UML. I would like to thank my colleague Thomas Gericke a lot for struggling with this non-trivial mapping.
The mapping is described in details in this whitepaper: http://www.adocus.com/media/21703/archimate-to-uml-mapping-whitepaper.pdf
The source is currently available on GitHub: https://github.com/Adocus/ArchiMate-for-Papyrus
A pre-build ArchiMate feature is available on our public update site: http://metamodelagent.com/update/archimate
(the ArchiMate extension is totally unrelated to our MetaModelAgent product, only currently sharing the download area of technical reasons).
An Eclipse Marketplace listing have been created and is currently in a pending state.
We would like to invite anyone to collaborate on the continuation of this extension. We would also appreciate any external reviews on how we have used the Papyrus extensibility mechanism, and if we can do any improvements on this usage.
If possible we would like this extension to be an official extension to Papyrus, as part of the “Papyrus for Enterprise Architecture” edition. We would like to address this question to the Papyrus IC Product Management group.
Product Manager and main contact for the ArchiMate extension is Thomas Gericke, thomas.gericke@xxxxxxxxxx
Main contact for any further discussion of making this extension an official extension is Thomas Wiman, thomas.wiman@xxxxxxxxxx
Best regards,
Thomas Wiman and Thomas Gericke
