I was thinking of doing the same thing for the C client - that is, 
creating a Python GUI for it, preferably using wxPython.  We might be 
able to share some of the GUI code.

One screen/panel I want to see is for incoming messages, which has a 
separate element/line for each topic, the latest message on that topic, 
and the timestamp, with possibly the ability to zoom into more detail 
for each message.  Then it can be used to monitor the latest updates for 
a set of topics.  Optionally it could allow filtering by topic or other 
fields.

Also I want it to be able to handle multiple connections simultaneously, 
and have a packet tracing screen.
