Hi Devs,

We use P2 Category publisher tool to categorize our features in p2-repo.
But when we install the features, the categorization is not viewed in the
list of installed features because category type IUs don't get installed at
provisioning phase. Can we install category type features just as
feature.group type IUs? Can we maintain the categorization of features in
our installed features just like in p2-repo?
Appreciate your view on this.

Thanks,
Dileepa

Your assessment is correct, the category IUs do not find their way into the profile.
You can try to install a category IU but this may cause all the categorized entries to be installed. This would happen if the requirements from the category to the categorized element was "greedy". You can try changing the category requirements to be non greedy but I'm not sure if this would address the issue.

Finally even if the categories are installed in the profile, they will most likely not show up in the p2 UI.

p2-dev,
IPZilla records show that one or more of the projects on which you are
developer are in need of attention.  The following CQs have been in the
'awaiting_project' status for over 3 weeks  and need your team to take
action.

Hi everyone,

Just a reminder that EclipseCon 2013 early bird submission is Wed. Oct
31st. I encourage anybody who is interested to submit a talk on what your
doing with p2, how your extending p2 or even how your contributing to p2.
Something between p2 and Tycho might also be interesting.

Cheers,
Ian
