Re: [p2-dev] Metadata Repository Editor

Hi Alexander,

You'll find information about the metadata authoring tool (in other words: Installable Unit editor) here: http://wiki.eclipse.org/Equinox_p2_Metadata_Authoring . There is also the procedure to get the code from the Buckminster SVN.
The metadata repository editor is not yet available on a public repo due to a lack of time on our side. :-( In fact, the best thing to do would probably be to have a place somewhere in the RT or the PDE incubator to work on all this authoring stuff. Henrik, since you'll read me, we should try to take some time to formalize our ESE's chat a bit to push the subject a little further. :-) Alexander, would you have some interest in contributing?

Finally, you may want to CC yourself to the following bug report
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=233672. One interesting thing to note is the last comment by Jeff: metadata authoring *from scratch* must be possible (let's say that you want to create an I.U. fragment with very specific actions to perform after having unzipped foo.zip on a Solaris platform...) but most of the times you just want to tweak metadata already available (deduced from the bundle's manifest, or whatever).

Regards,
Benjamin

Hi,

I’m looking for the Metadata Repository Editor that is depicted here - http://wiki.eclipse.org/Equinox_p2_Metadata_Repository_Authoring

I’m not sure if the official editor already exists but the document says that there is an editor developed by Henrik Lindberg.

Does anyone know where I can download it?

Thank you in advance,

Alexander Troyanovsky
