As discussed before, I am happy to help where I can.

These changes are in
org.eclipse.equinox.p2.publisher.
Existing integration for generating p2 metadata during build and
export still uses org.eclipse.equinox.p2.metadata.generator.
At this point, to use the new code
during
a build, you need to call the publisher directly. I do believe the
publisher is used for dropins and when working with old update sites.
Unfortunately, I don't believe there
is much documentation for the publisher, and I'm not clear on the
details
of how to call it.

I just wanted to let p2 developers know that the touchpoint advice file
(p2.inf) can now be added to features and products as of 3.5 M4. This
allows
you to specify additional touchpoint instructions at the feature or
product
level (such as creating sym-links, setting program/JVM properties,
etc).
There are some automated tests for this, but it hasn't been put into
use
in our own features and products yet. Please enter bugs if you try this
out and encounter problems. I have added more details to the touchpoint
instructions wiki page:
http://wiki.eclipse.org/Equinox/p2/Engine/Touchpoint_Instructions#Authoring_touchpoint_data
For more details see the bug report:
