Hi Achim,

excellent work. I'd favour your approach. Spending a limited amount of 
time to see, if it can be fixed and making an informed decision 
afterwards is better than discussing a long time. I for myself had 
expected a much longer time (which is why I was against changing dom4j 
in the beginning) and am quite happy to hear from you that it seems to 
be a doable task.
