Re: [orion-dev] meeting minutes
|
Joshua, I was a bit confused on whether
you were just looking for something to work on, or you had something specific
you wanted to work on and wanted to check to make sure nobody else was
on it. Either way, when in doubt you can ask those questions on this list.
There is no approved set of things that people are allowed to work on...
anything is fair game. If someone is actively working on something, that
makes it part of the plan. Any bug not assigned to a human (i.e., not an
"inbox" account) is fair game to assign to yourself and give
it a go. If there is a bug assigned to someone else that hasn't been updated
in awhile, I suggest making a comment in the bug report saying "I
would like to work on this" and the current assignee will likely be
happy to hand it over or collaborate on it.
If you are just looking to contribute
anything, to get a feel for the contribution process, a good place to start
is bugs with "helpwanted" keyword. It sounds like Curtis has
already given you some other pointers on where to dive in.

Joshua's last search is a good starting place for finding existing issues
to work on and any bugzilla cleanup we do will only improve the results.
I followed up with him separately on the bugs he is interested in.

I have been looking at the bugs in this list from the query above.
I know you said that you have some clean up to do. The few that I looked
interesting to me either already have a PR/commit or they were rejected
or may be out of date.
Any ideas on things to add to the search?
thanks,
Joshua

Does that look like it lists things you are NOT currently working and are
still open?

As mentioned in the minutes, we are looking
at doing a pass over existing bugzilla reports to close outdated entries
and better prioritize what is remaining.
For the JS Tools and Client components in bugzilla, we try to mark items
we are currently working on with a Target Milestone (currently 9.0).
I would throw your question back to you. What areas are you interested
in? What is your background or focus? We can help point you
towards specific bugs in areas we are familiar with. Or you can review
the bug inboxes, sorting by most recent, to see what issues users are encountering.

I can't tell from BZ what is being worked and what is not.

Thanks Grant.
All all of those being worked by the existing team? or are those things
that need focus?
