Really not sure as we don't do anything with ssh directly and so would guess something unexpected is happening in JGit and it's use.
The only mention that I found in eclipse bugzilla was -- https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=326526#c9 where there's mention of an environment setting to override and use /usr/bin/ssh instead of the default java implementation of SSH.

I went to
http://localhost:8080/git/git-clone.html#/workspace/A
clicked on Clone Repository and entered my git url. I got a red circle
and the message:
Cannot run program "/usr/bin/ssh": CreateProcess error=2, The system
cannot find the file specified

any hints?
