Re: [opengenesis-wg] Request for participation to openGENESIS WG

Dear Huascar,

Thank you for your interest in the openGENESIS community. I am happy about your contact.

You get a first good overview about openGENESIS in the Wiki of the WG: https://wiki.eclipse.org/OpenGENESIS_WG

But let me just answer some of the questions right away anyway.

The community review of the charter (https://www.eclipse.org/org/workinggroups/opengenesis_charter.php) is just finished and we will start the official foundation soon. I hope that we can start being productive at the beginning of next year.

The process to participate depends on your goals. There is a membership as "Driver Member" to maintain the strategic direction of openGENESIS and there is a membership as "Development Member" to participate technically (in a Spotlight Projects) under the umbrella of the community.

The investigation aspects of the Spotlight Projects are defined by the participants themselves. To participate in such a Spotlight Projects the following memberships are required: “Eclipse Foundation Solution Member” and a “openGENESIS Development Member”. To start a spotlight project, a corresponding proposal with a project description has to be sent to the steering committee. These proposals will be considered regularly.

Since the Spotlight Projects define their investigation topics by themselves, there is currently no “planned technology”. But he idea behind openGENESIS is to become able to assess AI and ensure an safe behaviour. So, any activity regarding this goal is welcome.

As examples, these could be:

  • Define data set interest and how they should be made available
  • Establishment of an open and public available training and validation data set
  • Identification of the necessary properties of synthetic data for a adequate real data representation
  • Support investigations regarding explainable (and understandable) AI
  • Find and define metrics for quantitative statements about performance and robustness
  • Discuss possible adjustments of safety standards to fit for machine learning

These examples are only an first idea - we are currently writing some examples for the spotlight projects to provide an better understanding.

I hope I've been able to answer a few questions. If you are interested, we can also arrange a call.

Best regards,

Matthis

Betreff: [opengenesis-wg] Request for participation to openGENESIS WG

Dear Steeering Committee,

CEA LIST is interested in joining the openGENESIS WG. Could you please let us know the process and requirements to be involved?

In order to define our final choice in terms of membership, we would also need to know more about the planned technologies (if any) behind the project and the current consortium.

Contact points are Sébastien Gerard (in cc) and myself.

Best regards,
