Re: [openadx] Adding an introduction paragraph to the project's wiki page

FYI

Latest state of proposal (the quoted part will not go live until it’s become a fact):

The OpenADx Working Group wants to serve in the field of software tools for the realization of autonomous driving (AD) by defining open interfacing standards for software for use in vehicle based systems and in testing environments, where the second will typically be realized by means of cloud services doing at least software builds, virtual test runs and collecting results. The name OpenADx thus stands for "Open, Autonomous Driving Accelerator". The group is formed by a multitude of parties from various parts of the world and supported by several well-known industry companies. <!-- The OpenADx Working Group is set up as a working group under the governance of the Eclipse Foundation. -->

If no further issues will pop up then I plan to set this live in about the next 10 working days.

Regards, Alex.

CC’ing this to the mailing list.

I feel on Wikipedia it’s a standard to set a little abstract in front of every article

– and this is serving the freshly arrived reader pretty well for deciding about

the basic relevancy of the topic in relation to his personal interests. Thus the

main page of the OpenADx “wiki” presence on eclipse.org should have one as well.

Adding an introduction paragraph[edit]

The main page is missing an introductory paragraph above the headline that quickly informs a visitor on the key aspects of OpenADx. Here on the discussion page I want to draft such a paragraph, give others the chance to read it, comment/discuss and further apply changes _before_ such an item goes live on the true page.

The OpenADx group wants to serve in the field of software tools for the realization of autonomous driving (AD) by defining open interfacing standards for software for use in vehicle based systems and in testing environments, where the second will typically be realized by means of cloud services doing at least software builds, virtual test runs and collecting results. The name OpenADx thus stands for "Open, Autonomous Driving Accelerator". The OpenADx group is set up as a working group under the hood of the Eclipse Foundation. The group is formed by a multitude of parties from various parts of the world and supported by several well-known industry companies.

Please note that the reference to the Eclipse Foundation might be a little ahead of time or might need to evolve over time. --Alexander.stohr.zf.com (talk) 04:41, 23 May 2019 (EDT)
