I would like to say that I found these changes unfortunate. I believe
important FLOSS actors should encourage the use of standards (as Matrix)
and FLOSS, and help to make them more discoverable.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Santiago (and others).
While I understand your disappointment, the activity we're seeing on GitHub since the move is unparallelled to what we had ever achieved on GitLab with this project, and so I think that move in particular was justified.
We'll see if we can find a good bridge between Slack and Matrix; recommendations welcomed.
As discussed today, we're also looking at whether we're able to offer an alternative to Zoom for calls. Here too, recommendations welcomed.
Finally, I'd be willing to experiment with something other than Google Docs for call notes if I wasn't taking notes at the same time as I was running the call. I just really need the spell checking and autocomplete features to be able to (vaguely) do both at the same time. Moving forward, I'll be publishing the minutes as a markdown file in the repo. I also commit to being more diligent about sharing the agenda ahead of the calls as both a GitHub issue and on the mailing list (in full text). Apologies that this wasn't the case so far.
Hope this is a workable compromise for y'all. And please let us know if that's not the case.
Thanks,
