First, welcome aboard.
That is an enormous pleasure to receive more and more the community.

What I recommend to you:

1) Take a look in the documentation and the JavaDoc
For sure that is the best place to start, therefore, you learn the project and the can give feedback on what is not clear.

2) Share what you learn. That is a good opportunity to share knowledge at the conference and try the project.
3) Find the bugs, once we already read and try the project that is a good chance to feed give us feedback, and joins us and both issues and PRs.
