Re: [mosquitto-dev] RSMB source now in Git - first patch :-)

Andy, Roger,

If there are any good ideas in the code, I'll be very pleased :-)

One of the things I have to continue to do is to be able to produce a version which IBM can support. It will take a while to figure out how to do that with the main Mosquitto codebase, so I expect having patches for the RSMB project will be valuable for a good while to come.

Roger,

I didn't know how you would feel about the tracing and/or heapdump facilities, so I hadn't broached that subject yet :-) I thought you might think it overkill for an open source project. I think the aims are good though: stability, the ability to remotely (in space and/or time) determine problems and potentially a basis for self-diagnosis/self-healing.

Hi Andy,

The plan is to take code from RSMB and merge it into mosquitto. At the
moment the candidates for that are the MQTT-SN and tracing code but
there may be others, and I'll certainly be scouring the code for good
ideas.

In the meantime, I think it's good to have patches for the RSMB repository.

Cheers,

Roger

Nice to see that we can now grab Really Small Message Broker from Eclipse

I just submitted https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=422167 with a
small patch to work around some header issues on OS X.

(realising that the longer-term goal may be to cherry pick mosquitto and
rsmb features to something more core, I still thought it might be a useful
change for those wanting to build rsmb)
