Re: [modeling-pmc] New Project Proposal: Eclipse Hawk

Wayne,

Yes, ideally someone else will step up.

I have no problem with not reviewing/approving proposals.  I'm not the most process oriented person as you well know.

Cheers,
Ed

Thanks, Ed, for your offer to help. You already do a lot of mentoring (and do a great job of it), however, so it would be good to see somebody else step up. I'd really like to try and expand our pool of "usual suspects". Any other takers?

The process regarding PMC approval of new proposals is actually a little fuzzy, and--given that we don't really have channels for private communication--challenging. I usually notify PMCs of new projects after they've been opened for community review and depend on lazy consensus instead of explicit approval. I should have announced the project to the PMC list when it was posted live last week; sorry for the delay.

Most Modeling project proposals actually come to me via the PMC, so I've gotten a bit lazy with regard to your TLP. I'll make sure that I announce new proposals in a more timely manner in the future.

Isn't the PMC supposed to review/approve project proposal?

Greetings Eclipse Modeling PMC.

I have a new project proposal in the queue that I'd like you to know about.

Eclipse Hawk is a heterogeneous model indexing framework: it indexes collections of models transparently and incrementally into a NoSQL database, which can be queried in a more efficient and convenient manner. You can mirror EMF, UML or Modelio models (among others) into a Neo4j or OrientDB graph, which you can query with their native languages, or (preferably) through the languages provided by Hawk. Hawk will watch over those models and update the graph whenever they change, in an incremental manner.

The progress of the proposal is being tracked here:

The project needs an Architecture Council mentor. There's lots of cross over with this project and other Modeling Projects, any takers?

Thanks,

Wayne
